Umzinyathi District Municipality
in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, strives to be a self sustainable
organization that
promotes integrated development. Our vision is that the Umzinyathi
District Municipality
shall be a dynamic and effective body which supports co-operative
governance through participation, commits itself to deliver services
according to its constitutional mandate, supports poverty alleviation
through job creation and preserves its cultural and natural heritage.
The District is made up of four local municipalites; eNdumeni, eNquthu, uMsinga and uMvoti.
It has estimated population of 427052 and has 77540 households with an
average family size of 5.5 persons per household. Like all rural nodes
, the income is less than R 1200.00 per month with 75% unemployment
rate . There is a backlog in terms of telecommunication services and
bout 60% households are without connection to their dwellings and more
than 75% do not have electricity, proper sanitary facilities or a
potable water supply.
